The point is that when we're playing games, we never bother to even question anything. We simply have a mindset that to win the game, we must follow every rule and direction and follow it exactly. No one ever bothers to think of anything other than the goal of winning.
In this game, if you follow all the rules, you'll be able to run faster and jump higher. If you don't, you'll be slower. You'll get to see the colors, of course, but you will no be nearly as powerful as your could be if you had not strayed from the path the computer has set up for you.
It's basically a metaphor for life. How when you defy the status quo, you are also limiting yourself because you see things differently. You are different, and are therefore hindered because of it.
